At the Langhorne Slim show last night I spent a good hour or so talking to the roadie for the band. Is 'roadie' still the politically correct term? I would call him a guitar tech or something, but since LS plays the same acoustic guitar the entire night, that doesn't seem appropriate. Roadie it is, but I digress. We were jus talking about music in general(he says the single greatest song ever written is 'Hang On St Chrisopher' by Tom Waits) and about all of the tours he has worked. I have never wanted to be a middle of the road rock star so bad in my entire life. Living out of a van for months at a time TOTALLY appeals to me.
I brought up my love of the band Lucero, and he mentioned that he did a tour of there's last year. He said hands down NOBODY drinks like they do...and after seeing them live a few times, I am hard pressed to concur.
He told a story about one night that Ben Nichols, the lead singer, got SO drunk on Absynth and whiskey at some little bar in Georgia that he thought EVERYONE in the crowd was trying to sabotage the set...he actually pulled a knife on the crowd mid-show! How rock n roll is that??
Seriously though, look at Ben's eyes...he always looks like he is on the verge of pulling out a weapon of some sort...and I love him for it.

Digging this song a lot. But it's hard to believe any band could top the Pogues at their peak.
