Low budget/home made music videos are almost always hilarious, and its usually unintentional. Over the last few years I've stumbled across true comedy on the internet, and I'm here to share it with MOG... check em out. If you don't find at least ONE of these videos utterly hilarious.. I owe you a cupcake.... the videos start off moderately funny and progress into comedy gold at the end of the list. 10. Mighty Casey - White Girls This is a classic from BET uncut... and i... MORE
A while ago I picked up on a book which had been out since 2006. The grandly titled,"100 Albums That Changed Music", makes very addictive reading for a musicophile such as myself. I tend to use books, such as this, to inspire me to go out there and check out albums I missed first time around, or just artists I had no real interest in checking out. I must admit to not being the sort of person who gets into hot discussions with himself or friends about, who did, or did not, ... MORE
Just yesterday we were discussing Daddy Yankee's song "Gasolina" as a result of John McCain bringing it up in Phoenix recently. Well, today Sheryl Crow shares her new video for "Gasoline" and it too gets political. And, as with all things Crow performs, it rocks. Check it out: Watch out Polar Bear! ouch! I love the song and video both. Quite different from Daddy Yankee's tune...

Chase the albino cricket had a plan. He knew he had to get to Indio for the Cricketchella fest. You see, Chase loved live music & Cricketchella was the place to be for music. Plus, all his friends & cousins would be there. Ella Anne, Izzie, Debbie, Lucas, Amber & Craig to name but a few. But HOW ??? He lived in Pennsylvania & Indio was all the way across the country. He went to his mother and asked "Mommy, how do I get to Indio?" "Well now, my little B... MORE
Most people have never heard of German indie electro-rockers Notwist and even after this post enters the mighty mighty World Wide Web... many people will still not have heard of Notwist. But if you're not one to shy away from frog-legs and sweetbreads on a menu, maybe Notwist will fit your musical pallete.
For starters try the trio's new 7 Boneless. It comes with a side of remix...alright, enough of the menu innuendoes. The single originally appeared on the band's June r... MORE
Those of you that have been following along know that I've been promising to post some music from my new band for a while now. Well, I'm pleased to announce that day is finally here! (Drum roll, fanfare, etc etc). I'm going to post a couple of songs we've recorded. It seems pretentious to me to call this an "album" and being "released" and all, since we're planning for right now to do it all ourselves--wouldn't mind trying to find a label the traditional way, but I h... One of my favorite new(ish) moggers is Lakposhti. Lakposhti is a fascinating individual who lived, if I'm correct for a whole 12 13 years without listening to music (!), and has returnedd to his music listening throug Mog, to rediscover some old favorites anddiscover some new tunes. I always enjoy reading his posts, because he's been places and lived places that are so far out the sphere of my daily life, I always enjoy reading his posts. Anyway, as you'll find out fr... MORE
So there I was at the Sydney Airport once again. I had a fuck of a trip. We flew from Amsterdam to London, London to San Francisco, went home for about 4 hrs, and then went right back to SFO to catch my flite to Sydney. The Sydney flite took off late, so we missed our connection to Brisbane. By the time we caught our Brisbane flite there was no time to hit the hotel in Byron, we had to go straight to the Splendor In The Grass Site. I think I racked up around 35 hrs of... MORE
I had my very first indie moment this week.
Sure, I've had flashes of those "Oh, I heard of them before they were played on this radio station" moments before, with Spoon, Arctic Monkeys and The Fratellis, among others. But those were different. I actually liked being able to sing along with them while driving, it was a pleasant change of pace to find "You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb" over my airwaves than the usual junk played.
But now, thanks to that trailer for Pineapple E... MORE
Sunday was a sun-blessed day in Golden Gate Park as Outside Lands kicked off with Nicole Atkins and Toots and the Maytals. In fact, evidently two guys were so psyched about the weather that they decided to drop trou in public- which didn't make the cops too happy. DROPPING TROU? Regardless, Nicole Atkins & The Sea soothed all woes with dark, psychedelic Jersey-shore romantic strumming and warpling voice. Next up, Toots reigned reggae king again on the ma... MORE
It wasn't until I saw this band was coming to Indy that I'd even thought of them for a while. It wasn't until I thought of them that I realized they put an album out this year. It wasn't until I listened to the album that I realized how much I've missed this band and their music. Just thought you might need a reminder too.
