Blog post image preview The Super Bowl Halftime show is always subject to controversy. Most infamously Janet Jackson's 2004 wardrobe malfunction sits in memory, and more recently even subdued performances by Prince and Paul McCartney have managed to cause a stir. Last year, Prince's set was deemed a little too sexual when the guitar looked like a erection behind a giant curtain, and McCartney was accused of lip syncing in 2005. Now, Tom Petty is being accused of lip syncing during his four ... MORE

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers put on a great show in Charlotte last night. The line up of Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench, Ron Blair, Scott Thurston & Steve Ferrone hasn't changed and I was glad of that. The set list went was pretty "hit-oriented" and went as follows: You Wreck Me, Listen To Her Heart, I Won't Back Down, Even The Losers, Free Fallin', Mary Jane's Last Dance, Cabin Down Below, End Of The Line, Breakdown, Saving Grace (with an extended jam afterwards) A Face In... Blog post image preview Ahhh... There's nothing like the smell of gas burning and Tom Petty blasting in the background. Where am I going with this? With America giving Europe a run for its money with summer festivals this year, yet another has been announced. The first-ever Mile High Music Festival, being held in the depths of Commerce City, Colorado will feature headliners Tom Petty, Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer and more. As a graduate of the University of Colorado - Boulder let me let you ... MORE

Blog post image preview In an effort to keep the Super Bowl half time show PG since Janet Jackson's boob incident, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will perform at this season's football championship game. Scheduled for the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on February 3rd, Petty follows in the footsteps of Paul McCartney and Prince who performed at the recent past Super Bowls. Peter Bogdanovich created an "exemplary" and engaging rock documentary about Tom Petty called "Running Down A Dream." Despite being four-hours long, the story is fascinating. The movie commemorates the 30th anniversary of the Heartbreakers' debut album. Bogdanovich told the UK Telegraph:
I insisted that I conduct all the interviews. Being ignorant of the facts, and being aware that everybody realised that, I knew that they'd take more time telling me things than they wo

Around 11 this morning, while doing my usual rounds of procrastinational activities preparatory to starting any actual work, I read deadmandeadman’s morning post and thus became aware by chance that today is Superbowl Sunday. Huh!, imagine that, I thought as I enjoyed the attached Medly and wished a fun day for a fellow mogger. Because I am a nice person. Eventually I got to work and by hours later had edited up a document so that it read real good and headed downstairs... MORE

Although I have not abandoned my daily treks through the MOG-iverse, I’ve been deep in the belly of the Hollywood beast all this week. Riding down Sunset, past the Whiskey and the Roxy at midnight. Parking in the shadow of the Capitol Records tower, and running into a convenience store for a bottled coffee. Stopping off for an afternoon screening at Mann’s Theater on Hollywood Boulevard, while on the sidewalk, the tourists get their photos taken with actors in Spider-Man a... MORE

So it's taken me a week to get on here and update about it, but Tom Petty's Gainesville, FL homecoming concert last Thursday night kicked ASS! If you're ever going to see an artist doing a 30-year anniversary tour, see 'em in their hometown, because there's nothing else quite like it. Tom & the Heartbreakers totally rocked (as always) and the hometown crowd really made the event something special. There wasn't a single song in Petty's 2.5-hour repertoire that wasn't be... MORE

Blog post image preview I only have four simple words: I LOVE TOM PETTY!! That's right, I love everything about his songs, his lyrics and him. For those of you who do not recognize his name, Tom and The Heartbreakers rose to fame for many a wonderful song, but the most played by far is Free Fallin', and it is almost overplayed for very very good reason. If you have never listened to Tom's dulcet tones or experienced the pure religiosity of listening to I Need to Know, You Got Lucky, Don't Do Me L... MORE
