Another 13th has passed and with it The Cure have released a video for the third single "Sleep When I'm Dead" off their forthcoming album. The untitled effort -- tentatively being called mix 13, is the band's 13th studio album -- is promised to be out September 13th. Hopefully by then it will also have a real title. It seems the Cure are taking every precaution to unjinx the release of their 13th studio album. Fear of the number 13 is common news for airports and hotels, with gate 13 or floor 13 being omitted from many. But the Cure are looking triskaidekaphobia in the eye and releasing four A & B side singles each month up, the first on May 13th, up until the the release of their as yet untitled thirteenth studio album on September 13th. To be quite honest, I've only heard of like half of the 30+ bands that are on this new Cure tribute album that’s coming out via Manimal Vinyl October 28th. Among the bands making it on Perfect as Cats: A Tribute To The Cure are The Dandy Warhols, the chick from Bat For Lashes, Kaki King and Wolfkin (Danish rockers including some playas from Junior Senior), but hey who doesn’t like a good Cure cover? Did I miss this or something? Holy crap, the Cure are heading to the US this spring for a major tour. So major they are plying both Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall (where industrial electronica act65 Days Of Static will be their special guest) when they come to New York. The band will even hit the land of my ancestors and pierogis on their extensive winter tour of Europe, and they will hit it twice! Seems Robert Smith is getting a case of the cabin fever. ... MORE

This is not the first Cure video I ever saw; that honor would go to their silly video for "Let's Go To Bed". However, between endless plays of the video on local music video shows, and over-saturation on KROQ, I got really tired of that song. I would later appreciate it, given some space. After two years of Isiah Thomas, its good to know there's going to be somthing worth watching in MSG On June 20th, The Cure will be performing in said venue. Still as great as ever. I know every fan probably has some favorite song of them that's more obscure than this one, but to me this one's just too good. From their Three Imaginary Boys Album, Boys Don't Cry.
