Death Cab For Cutie revealed plans for a short U.S. tour this fall, following their string of gigs overseas. The band is still supporting their late spring/early summer album "Narrow Stairs", and will touch down in nine American cities. Stan, my boy, turned 12 yesterday. And to celebrate, Uncle Sef arranged an exciting gift...the gift of flight. I honestly had no intention of participating. It was to be Sef, Stew (hubby) and Stan. While I said I am a cat person (see previous post), truth be told, there is a dog in my life. Her name is Lola, a black and white rat terrier/chihuahua mix. She is my brother's dog, and she comes over to the house quite frequently. And if Kyle, my bro, is not there, I am easily the boss of Lola...she sits with me while I am on the computer, follows directions (as much as a Lola can), and follows me around the house. The Voodoo festival has revealed its full lineup for the October 26-28 get together in New Orleans. ...that the new Death Cab album is just a total pop nugget from start to finish, albeit a nugget with more than a little bitterness right there at the end. This though, is like an outtake from Pet Sounds. Good shit. Surprising. It makes me smile everytime I hear it. Come to think of it, Brian Wilson is all over this record, in all his shimmering sixties faded pop glory.

So. I am brand new here and still have no idea what to do or how to do it. But it seemed really interesting. I actually became intrigued when I was linked over to this due to a search on Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie. They are by far my favorite band. Honestly Ben Gibbard can do no wrong in my eyes. I've figured if he crapped in a box I would buy it and cherish it. Don't know what it is. His voice just gets into my soul and makes the orld make sense. WHich in this day... MORE
