Instar is the "nom-de-Rock" of Karl von Kries' studio recording project, and the name of his live band when he plays out with other musicians.
Karl has done several sound tracks, particularly for New York animator Pat Smith. Click here for video clips
Sounds like? U2 on a less 'beautiful day', getting beaten up the Afghan Whigs while Radiohead sulks around in the shadows. And if you believe that... OK, some folks think it sounds like Rocco Deluca (which is weird because there's no Resonator guitar in the music. Screw it, here's the music link, check out the many free downloads and previews

Reviews? Yes, some nice ones. NME called the band's debut EP "Excellent", and the full-length LP "Secret Services" was called a "Noble, rewarding musical adventure" by Pulse.
