BECAUSE THE WEB MOSTLY SUCKS

Philadelphia based psychedelic rockers Dr. Dog have had their share of ups in down in recent times. The group is set to kick off a whirlwind tour, from Brooklyn to Berlin, in support of their upcoming 5th full length album Fate (Park The Van). The group explains it as an  "album Dr. Dog were destined to make", mainly due to the fact that the opportunity to bring new elements into their recording sessions has arisen.

Tomorrow night (Thursday, July 17), Dr. Dog will perform on Late Night With Late Night with Conan O’Brien, the group explain on their blog that for this performance, our boys won't exactly be at 100%.

Toby Leaman , known in the group as his stage name "Tables," was recently punched in the throat. While this might sound humorus to some, it was in fact a serious ordeal for the Leaman who shares in the singing duties for his group.

"We're still playing Conan. So this Thursday (That's Tomorrow), at whatever time Conan O'Brien is on in your house, just towards the end there when they squeeze in the musical guest.. that will be us, playing The Old Days from our new album. Toby will be the one not singing and trying not to look bummed."

They explained in a statement on their blog:

"Toby got punched in the throat last weekend and he is just now getting back to talking. After some cat scanning and throat poking the Doc told Toby that, while nothing is broken or cracked, he would risk more severe damage if he tries to sing too soon and strongly advised that he not sing this weekend. They gave him some drugs and told him not to talk which is maybe the only good thing to come of this mess. We're all really sorry to have to do this but we have to make some changes to the upcoming tour schedule."

Man.. sup with that? Getting punched in the throat. I think I'd be a little torqued about that.  I hope he recovers soon.

While back went to see them in San Fran and they sold out the place before you could even get out of the van let alone 'Park' it. I ended up missing them.

That was pretty lousy.

They're my new obsession!  I'd love to see them live..but I don't think they're coming to FL, damn tour organizers!  Conan will do for now I suppose.  Poor Toby.  Wonder what inspired someone to punch the guy in the throat...?

Toby is recovering. It was a freak accident. "Fate" comes out, officially, today......and if anyone listens to it in its entirety, will appreciate the flow and great c.d that it is. The live shows will go on when Toby is better, which, will be soon. Just hope all will listen to "Fate"....start to finish, and then , discover what a great c.d this is?? It is so different and cohesive.

Fate IS a fantastic CD and yes, most definitely should be listened to from start to finish! I love it.   Good to hear Toby is recovering, hated to hear that amazing voice suffered.

Toby's throat injury was purely an unfortunate accident while trying to have some fun tubing with his wife and friends.  Thank goodness he listened to his Dr. and  is doing the right thing to get well soon. Dr. Dog took some flack about cancellations, and , even for performing on  Conan...a 3 min. song where Scott sang and Toby  had to contain himself on stage without being able to sing and be his usual, vibrant, singing, jumpy, happy, self. Just hoping that peopke understand, catch the rescheduled shows, and realize that things like this happen. "Fate" is so great and they have an incredibly non-stop schedule, worlwide, this year for their "Fate". When people see them live, and experience THEIR music and fun presence/personalities, LIVE, maybe the critics will stop categorizing them into the past and just listen to them as "Dr. Dog". They are different/unique... They are not just some band imitating the past. So what if they sound like.have some influences from the greats of the 60's-70's? How could that influence be bad? ...when that was the very essence/start of music past Elvis?? It's fun to listen to... it has much meaning...the song writing is new and great ideas/relation to what people would like to feel/think today... and sing along to....
