~ A few words:
This is not going to be objective and cool-headed. Those are not qualities I'm known for, anyway. But right now, I am deeply enchanted. I saw Wild Beasts open for Foals last night, and I'm still in a daze.
Brilliantly written pop songs dipped in melody, harmony, quirkiness, and theatrics, blessed with two enormously TALENTED vocalists. I wish I knew the technical terms to describe their voices, but I'm not known for that either. You'll have to take a listen and judge for yourselves.
Their album is a celebration for both the mind and the soul. I can say without a doubt, that it is one of the best albums of the year. Do not let it go unnoticed.

Jonh, they renewed my faith in contemporary music. Shoot up.......
My Trusted MOGs
Tie me off, sister!
My Trusted MOGs
Good stuff!
Did you like Foals?
My Trusted MOGs
Jonh is gonna get me arrested today..oh well! :)
I did, Andrea, review to come soon ;)
My Trusted MOGs
just having a listen to the bottom one, OMG, Brace Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants! You have to recongnize their creativity right off the bat here.. hmm (listening) vocals, unusual.. I can't describe it either, some hint of Freddy Mercury, quite a range hey? I sense the theatrical element... melodic yes, but defintiely "quirky", which is right up my alley. So, did you know them before you went or was it the Foals thet you were interested in?? I was trying to catch the Foals last night on Jimmey Kimmel, but missed them. How were they or do you even have a good reference point now?? :0)

First impression: Duggg it
Second Impression: Love the African flavor and they pull it off without sounding forced
Third Impression: Liked it, thanks Anna.

Glad I could provide you with some music crack, Indiana :)
I only knew The Devil's Crayon before I saw them, by a post Neill made. After the show I came back home, got the album, and now it's all I can listen to.
I went for Foals, Wild Beasts were the gigantic neon cherry on top. They were good, I'll post a review about the whole thing soon, my mind is currently inhabited by wild beasts ;)
Hey Cody, I'm really glad that all of your three impressions were positive! Thank you for listening :)
How would you characterize the two vocalists? I'd like to learn something today :)
My Trusted MOGs
Excellento!
My Trusted MOGs
It's great when the support band blows you away. Makes you thankful for getting their early. I like their playfulness. I think Brace Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants (can't wait to hear radio DJs read that one out) has a Mika-ness quality to it, no bad thing if they want to break out of the indie ghetto and actually sell records. Btw, you bought just one ticket to this gig I hope?
My Trusted MOGs
Cheers, bradfox! Glad you feel that way!
Fluxy, I've endured so many bloody boring support bands that I'll count this one to be my reward. Yeah...I can't read that title out either ;o)
Their album came out from Domino, so I'm thinking they'll do fine (if Mika can do it, anybody can, really..).
Just the one...but I'm seeing them again by themselves at the end of October... ;)
My Trusted MOGs
you are known for emotional blackmail and enormously keen taste in music, anna. this is fantastic.
My Trusted MOGs
wild beasts & foals... you were animalistic last nite to be sure... well done sis... you done me PROUD !!!
I've always said it's the openers that wow you that really leave an indellible mark - least for me that tends to be the case... They are the best surprise a girl could ask for IMHO... maybe not the best but pretty darn close !!!
My Trusted MOGs
Aw, thank you, lucy! Really glad you like it. :*
Gotta love a musical circus, Lizzieness hehe
I think this is the first time I've been WOW-ed by an opener I didn't know much about...such a special moment! Me wuve 'em long time...

‘The Devil's Crayon’ - what a great title! I love the bouncy playfulness.
‘Please Sir’ - I'm imagining a ball-room dance being preformed to this: a grand waltz.
‘Brace Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants’ – Wow. It’s amazing how different each song sounds from each other. Besides the distinctive vocals, I would swear they are from different bands.
Great find Anna. You truly are the queen (even if you are a bot) ;)
My Trusted MOGs
That first song 'The Devil's Crayon' reminds me alot of the awesome '80s group Big Country(who I love) & a bit of Tears for Fears. 'Brave Bulging . . .' reminds me of Fine Young Cannibals & Scissor Sisters. There are so many influences I can't peg 'em all. Couldn't listen to please sir since the comment red buttons aren't coming through for me but I went to their myspace to have a listen for the other songs. Liking them!
You are just turning into a major concert whore aren't you dear?! I hope you're wearing protection! ahahahahaha
My Trusted MOGs
loved it, all of them
My Trusted MOGs
ooh ahh.
i will be back for more.
honestly, the sound is not what i was expecting from their name...wild beasts? but in this case, that's a good, good thing.
My Trusted MOGs
Hey Daniel, excellent musical observations! They truly have many different things to give (and I'll take them all, ALL, I tell you!).
Thank you. I prefer being a bot, it's much more fun ;)
Uncle A, I thought you might detect the Scissor Sisters vibe hehe
Thank you for listening! I'm really glad you enjoyed 'em :)
Concert whore hahahahahahha
I put out on the first show... no wonder the bands never call me again mwuahhaha
Kevin, yay! Excellent news :D
ardyjormkiv (sorry, I don't know your real life name), come back come back....crack free of charge ;)
I know, their name can be very misleading!
My Trusted MOGs
Anna, i am as wowed as everyone else, i briefly needed a wall to lean myself against!
picking up Elbow / Clinic / The Wild Swans / David Byrne vibes on that oh so magnetic voice and the rich melodies. with This Mortal Coil / Ivo Watts-Russell thrown in for the experimentation. very awesome find.
also, best post title evah.
My Trusted MOGs
this is a true treat anna. my jaw is dropped and im lurvin it.
My Trusted MOGs
My goodness! (Wow! I sound like someone's granny.) Holy moley! This is XTC-level protean - and as effortlessly cross-cultural as Talking Heads. Incredibly creative. Like a most articulate tongue gently licking one's ears. Many thanks, Anna.
My Trusted MOGs
I was thinking Beautiful South-esque...it brought me back to many of those lovely melodic British pop bands days like in the early 90s? (i agree with August1). Nice Anna, thanks!
My Trusted MOGs
I'll be very curious to see them live, having had to miss the Foals fest! Btw, that barber's shop is virtually just around the corner (note the post code).
My Trusted MOGs
lovely!
My Trusted MOGs
poe, I'm tremendously chuffed with your reaction :)
I agree with your vibes potion, it's an accurate one and the spell is being casted in perfection :)
Thank you very much :)
Cheers, Sam! My jaw and your jaw will be best floor{ed} friends now...
Mikey, I sounded like everybody's granny when I heard them.
"Like a most articulate tongue gently licking one's ears" excellent description....I'm here admiring your eloquence again :)
My pleasure!
You're very welcome, Karen. Melody is certainly one of their most important qualities, as is loveliness :D
Pekka, your curiosity will be satisfied on a very spooky night...
Really?! Let's go stalk around! :D
Heya, Nick! I'll say.... :)
My Trusted MOGs
I can't wait to hear this but...how did you like the Foals? :)
My Trusted MOGs
They were very interesting live, Sam! Lots of dancing, shoving and pushing (I had to move a bit to the side so as not to have to check into a hospital later on). It was like a big great party on and around the stage. You guys were all right, as always :) I also liked that they altered their songs a little bit live. It was a lovely show!
PS I had no idea that their singer is Greek, I only found out that night, lol!
My Trusted MOGs
Looking forward to the full review of Foals. Checking this out now...good stuff. I hear stuff that sounds like the Killers in "Devil's Crayon", and some Radiohead, but I'm sure that's just some of the falsetto.
Definitely theatrical sounding. I think this might remind me some of Shudder To Think in that regard.
